Director of Strategic Initiatives at the Foundation for Jewish Culture
The Director of Strategic Initiatives will develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies for FJC’s most exciting, high priority, long-range-visioning programs. This senior position reports directly to the President & CEO of the Foundation.
Duties include:
Establishing strategic partnerships with likeminded and visionary funders in the Jewish philanthropic world.
Developing individual, corporate and foundation support for FJC’s core initiatives including: Jewish Cultural Leadership; Six Points Fellowship for Emerging Artists; The Kroll Fund for Documentary Film; The Jewish Studies Expansion Program; the American Academy of Jerusalem; and other programs that support individual artists and scholars exploring the Jewish experience.
Managing and growing a comprehensive development team, including support of growing membership, grant writing and management, major gifts and planned giving.
Identifying partnering opportunities to leverage existing grants and developing complementary grant proposals.
Qualifications required:
Bachelors degree and minimum of ten years fund-raising or resource development experience.
Demonstrated track record of cultivation, solicitation and closing of significant major gifts.
Effective oral and written communication skills. Strong organizational and motivational skills.
Ability to comprehend and communicate core issues of concern to Jewish funding community: continuity, engagement, tolerance and, especially, the role that arts and culture play in these concerns.
Experience writing and editing proposals both independently and as part of a team, as well as a commitment to teamwork and cooperative action.
Entrepreneurial spirit, sense of humor and genuine interest in the arts is essential.
