Operational Due Diligence Associate

Title:  Operational Due Diligence Associate (0641-008-711)
Location:  Washington D.C. Area
Compensation:  Commensurate with experience

Summary:
This position is part of and supports the Operational Due Diligence (ODD) and Internal Controls team in conducting ODD reviews on underlying managers/funds including: collecting/analyzing documentation, initial data review/analysis, meeting preparation, coordinating reference checks, and final recommendation. This covers all strategies globally including traditional long only funds/hedge funds/private equity funds/real estate funds/opportunistic funds/fund-of-funds

Responsibilities:
Initial ODD reviews on potential new managers/funds including: input all relevant client allocation and manager/fund information to initiate the ODD process; complete documentation inventory checklist for all manager and fund specific documentation (due diligence questionnaires/offering documents/regulatory filings/audit reports); complete the ODD Dashboard with data that includes firm/fund ownership structure, fund service providers, trade flow, valuation procedures, infrastructure, risk management and compliance environment
Support the head of ODD in: preparing for manager/administrator meetings by putting together ODD onsite booklets; coordinating with outside firm on manager/fund background checks; interacting with the legal department as part of the non-investment due diligence process; and, presenting findings and recommendations to the deal team via ODD manager memorandum
Enhance ODD ongoing monitoring platform for existing managers/fund investments including: maintaining underlying manager/fund operational and service provider data
Maintain manager/fund documentation including ADV’s/DDQ’s/AUP’s/SAS 70’s/administrator NAV transparency reports/audited financial statements
Other duties related to client service/internal controls may be assigned to meet business needs

Requirements:
Undergraduate degree required
3-5 years operational and/or accounting experience in the asset management industry
Broad knowledge of asset management to include: strategies/financial instruments (private credit/equities/real estate/complex derivatives/private placements); operational best practices (fund structure/investment research/trading and execution/settlement and reconciliation/security valuations/risk/compliance)
Strong project management/organization/

communication skills required
Experience as a Fund External Auditor and/or Accounting Specialist preferred
CPA or working toward CPA preferred
Some travel may be required
